Yes, this is normal. I've had this happen many times. It may take a few more minutes, even one more hour, for it to say '1'. I don't know why it does that, but it doesn't affect anything really. Maybe it just means your chao will live longer.

It can be good or bad. For example, if you want your chao to evolve, so you leave it for 3 hours, thats fine. I've done that many times. However, over a day--no even over 5 hours, could be very very bad for your chao. It's alright as long as you don't over do it.

I only cried once and that was the first time I was going to get rid of my chao.
Now I'm pretty much unaffected, I guess it's because I prefer to think of as ''just deleting the chao from my memory card''. I don't even feel a little sad. Does that make me a bad person? D;.

I personally like neutral. They just look cool to me. I think Dark would be my last pick, just because I really only like the Swim chao in the dark alignment. Hero chao are alright, I really like that they are mostly white.
