The legend will never die
The last time this sort of stuff happened, I decided that I wouldn't be able to continue maintaining the site, and with university approaching, i decided to close down the forums.
Once again the forums have scaled into a very busy and active place, and i'm beginning to lose control.
However i don't plan to let the community die again, and I am fixing what I can.
The problem is, the forum database is getting overloaded, so I need to clear a lot of it to make at work (so it's not really the server's fault, its more that the database isn't as optimised as it should be).
So I'm goign to be running a purge. This means old posts that have not been posted in for a long time will be deleted. I've also deleted a lot of old accounts created with zero posts (95% spambots). So if you had an account with zero posts it might be deleted (sorry).
I realised i haven't got as much time as I liek to focus on the forums. Administrating a forum requires a lot of time to be spent on interacting with the community, and leadership skills to keep the staff working in sync as a team to keep everything running smoothly. Unfortunately this has been slipping away from me, and as you have probably seen- things have suffered.
First things first, I will be getting for forums back online hopefully in the next few days.
There will be another announcement very soon.

Another good idea is that you could delete the post that have been locked because a rule has been broken or something later

The rule breaking isn't anything out of hand, I think he means he would need more people to help out with coding back the old features that were left out with the update.

I think Mooncow needs an assistant

or a clone
mabey we should hire a SECOND ADMIN
ya know the best mod becomes another admin to help the site?
ps mooncow you should rearly get rid of spammer acounts; locked things and try to get rid of forums people havent posted on in more than a month.
also you have a couple of topics where you'll give us info then lock it
why not make one but keep editing the title and writing in posts to get your point across

Re: The legend will never die
I want either Fusion or Drouge7 to be our other Admin. I would want the job to go to Drouge7 more than Fusion
Re: The legend will never die
This has been done for the most part.truesilva wrote:ps mooncow you should rearly get rid of spammer acounts; locked things
Why would you rather Drouge87 be an admin?hawkleader3 wrote:I want either Fusion or Drouge7 to be our other Admin. I would want the job to go to Drouge7 more than Fusion

Re: The legend will never die
Because Drouge87 gets on more than you and if we needed two more Admins, you would be the second one
Re: The legend will never die
I disagree. I'm on Chao Island almost all the time.
Re: The legend will never die
i would say fusion would do the better job being "best mod" he also already does alot "usergroups"

Fusion should become admin if Mooncow ever leaves.

I fully Disagree, Fusion spends most every chance he gets here, and would know more of what to do with the MySQL, and PHP errors.

Re: The legend will never die
I agree with Shadow. Besides, Fusion already is sort of a second Admin already, and Torro's like Half-Admin Half-Mod. We kinda already have 2 and a half Admins already.

Yes, they don't appear to be administrators but they have some of the administrator privileges. (Fusion may have all of them.)

Hey, any way that you could make another way to save them? I put some stuff in some of them I don't want to forget... any way to archive 'em old threads?
Peace!
Peace!
