Spoiler tags have been suggested several times, and make a lot of sense. Instead of struggling to obscure your spoilers (perhaps by a huge amount of blank lines after the warning), why not just have tags to hide them until the user wants to view them?
Well, as you may already know, spoiler tags have been in the works for a while now. However, they are now officially complete and ready to be used! We have two kinds, as follows:
Short spoiler:
Want to just hide a short line of text? This is probably the kind of spoiler tag you want to use. In order to read the hidden text, just select it! Please keep in mind, however, that this tag gives away the number of hidden characters. In certain circumstances that may give away the secret, so please use your common sense.
Example: Torro is a cat.
Code: Select all
Torro is a cat.
Are you posting a large spoiler? Perhaps a paragraph or two, or an image? In that case, use this kind of spoiler tag. It will appear collapsed, and can be expanded by clicking the "Show" button.
Example:
Code: Select all
[spoiler2]
Did you know that Torro is a cat? It's true.
I once visited Mooncow in his home and found Torro the cat drinking water from a bowl on the floor. You should've been there to see it!
[/spoiler2]
You are allowed to use spoiler tags in your signatures, but for now, their contents will count towards the signature limit, even if they are hidden. The long spoiler tag will also count as an extra line of text due to the fact that it takes up more room. These rules may be updated at a later time.
Final notes
If you cannot see the above spoilers (particularly the short one), please clear/refresh your cache. Pressing the F5 key to reload the page will probably do the trick. This is important as otherwise you may see spoilers completely visible.
Mooncow did most of the work adding these, so thank him. I just put on the finishing touches. I hope you find them helpful!
