It's been a long time coming, but the new Chao Island has been released and it's definitely a big improvement to the old site! Both in design and content.
As you can see we also have a new domain name. I used my personal domain to host the website for a long time - in the early days of Chao Island it was hard to find a free domain that could cope with Chao Island's high traffic! One of the early solutions was that an upcoming webhost bought a domain name for me in exchange for putting a banner on the website. That didn't last for too long and I had to go back to regular free domains. But... the domain given to me before was actually the same domain I have re-purchased now! chao-island.com.
It's been about a year of work from initial design ideas, plans, and targets until now. Fusion and I worked very hard on the initial concept, design, layout and arrangement of the site. The amazing move to a functional mobile site is thanks to Fusion along with the implementation of the design and layout you can see. Fantastic work as always!!
Now there are still a few bugs, missing sections and some improvements to be made- but I wanted to release the website to everyone because it's still functionally better than the old website and more accurate information-wise. The old website will be taken down soon and replaced with redirects to the new website.
The main section of the website is the Info Center. This has information covering all the games and covers all formats. We decided it was better to collate the information about Chao raising rather than spreading them out into four or five sections with repeating information. We are very lucky to have an elite group of Chao Researchers in our team.
The Chao Island Encyclopedia is a Chao Wiki which will contain all the in-depth information found by our Chao Expert Team- and also will be editable by you Chao Island members too! This will be the best way to share information and as we continue to build it's foundations, you will see it evolve into something special.
The Chao Gallery is still here and has even more images! The selector tool will be back soon too.
The Guides section and the Downloads section will have lots of great content. Most of this is done, but problems with the navigation means that these parts will be up fully over the Christmas period.
It's been a crazy year, and I learned a lot from it all. I will probably go into more detail at a later date but right now I'm still super busy fixing bugs and getting content released!!
