Cosplay.
With Comic Con coming up for people living in the UK (and possibly America, I'm not sure) I'm wondering if any of you have ever cosplayed, or have any ideas for cosplays you'd be good at?
Back in 2014, I cosplayed as Silent Bob with my friend as Jay. We looked really good and a dozen or so people took our pictures, with around a dozen more shouting our names, movie lines and more. It was a really fun experience since it was the first time I cosplayed as someone and really enjoyed it.
This year I'm going to try and go as Edgeworth from Ace Attorney with my friend going as Phoenix. Finding a Red Suit is going to be hard af.
How about you guys, you ever cosplayed before, was it a good cosplay, if you were to cosplay who would you go as? Any pictures to share with us?

Re: Cosplay.
Back in 2014 I cosplayed a Brendan from Pokemon R/S/E. I can say that the cosplay wasn't as good as I wanted to be (but then again I paid $50 for it) because the outfit was made from a friend in high school. The outfit was loose for the trunks and tight for the shirts even thought I measured before hand, I did like the hat thought because it was better than I thought it was going to be and it was better than the ones they were selling at Anime Central in Rosemont, IL.
Pokemon Brendan, here's what I can find with me in a full body shot. It's may looks good from your perspective, but like I said with the outfit it was uncomfortable. I also realized that I didn't have the gloves and shoes to go with it to make it complete.
What I plan on doing now that I have someone better with making cosplaying outfit is that I will cosplay as Brendan again for Anime Central 2017, but in steampunk form. I wanted to go as Brendan again because I want to redeem myself because cosplaying is fun to do, but I kind of though I made an ass of myself by not doing any trainer poses considering it was my first time as well. The steampunk form was my friend idea because he thought it was cool considering there wasn't any much pokemon stemapunk cosplay. He gave me an estimate of how much will cost so I try to save as much money as possible. The problem with this is time and schedule, he said it'll take about maybe half a year since he's going to be using real metal since he and his dad worked with metal before.
Besides cosplaying for Anime Central, I plan on going to Wizard World by cosplaying as Ren/Kyuta from the movie, The Boy and The Beast. The same friend that gave me the steampunk Brendan idea wanted to cosplay from that movie because he wanted to be Kumatetsu. I thought about it and said alright, there isn't much to wear, but what I have to do is that I have to get my hair bushy and I have to be somewhat built or thin since I have more than year to cosplay as him. What we plan on cosplaying as.

I would honestly love to see pictures of that.retrolinkx wrote: Back in 2014, I cosplayed as Silent Bob with my friend as Jay.
I've never actually cosplayed as someone at a convention or anything like that, partly because I find it weird to pretend to be a character at an event where everybody else is also pretending to be a character (though I do like the idea of just wearing their outfit).
However, I did do a faux "cosplay" as Death the Kid from Soul Eater on (I think) Halloween 2013/2014.
I'm actually knid of surprised how huge my cheeks were then. It wasn't a real cosplay since I pretty much just threw a suit jacket on over a white shirt, sprayed that white stuff on my hair, and walked through school, but I did get complimented on my hair, which was pretty cool.
I did also consider cosplaying Ichimatsu a few months ago, but I've cut my hair since then, the Ichimatsu hoodie I bought is a bit too big for me, and I don't really go to conventions, nor could anybody in my family afford it. Not that I'd want to go.

I could cosplay as Maka Albarn from Soul Eater. I've got pretty much the right coloured hair and I have some clothing that looks awfully similar to hers. I'm actually considering doing so the next time I go to a Comic Con.

Re: Cosplay.
I've done a few cosplays in the last 4 years that I started..
Flandre Scarlet (Touhou) was my first, in 2013. Me and my mom worked together to make the costume, however it wasn't that great..and with it I discovered I'm allergic to fake hair. Since then, the only parts I have left are the wings and hat. :p
Ib (Ib) was my second, and was premiered at my first con too, at 2014. Lets just say that the clothes were a bit too small for me.. :c It was painful to breathe, and really prevented me from having too much fun. Not doing that again..
In 2015 I planned doing Jade Harley (Homestuck), but my costume broke and I was already stressed with mom's failing health, so I didn't do a cosplay..
This year I was supposed to be Chara (Undertale), however I forgot the warnings about tape and broke the 'stripes' the night before. Instead, at the con, I became a quick knock-off Link (Legend of Zelda).
Next year I'm juggling between Gerudo (Zelda) or Sans (Undertale). ;)

Re: Cosplay.
I cosplayed as Shadow the Hedgehog for a Halloween party in highschool. Wasn't overly impressive(tight black sweats with read cuffs and a hood, some fake white fur safety pinned to my chest, white gloves, white and red sneakers, some spines and ears printed on card stock pinned to my hood, some black face paint on my nose.
May not count, but I did dress up as an older version of my Mewtamer persona for Halloween my freshmen year of college.\, and Halloween of 2011, I went as a Twisty Puzzle.
Would like to cosplay more, but I largely lack the skills needed to make my own costumes, lack friends with such skills, can seldom afford materials, much less commissioning a tailor-made costume. Also, I live in the middle of nowhere, so attending a convention is out of the question and it would feel weird to wear a costume to class on Halloween at my age.

It's impossible for me to attend venues where other people would see it, so there's no point in me trying to cosplay. Going through the time and effort it takes to make a decent cosplay just for the sake of being seen by others does not appeal to me very much to be honest.

i cosplayed as myself once [shot]
truth be told the only time i've ever put on a costume was halloween when i was but a tiny lil manlet
i think there was also this time where i went to church and they were doing this beauty and the beast musical, and wouldn't you know it i never tried out and landed a spot (along with like 50 other people) as a tree
but yeah. people are rad just the way they are (unless they spread cancer across the internet in which case the dumpster is over there)

I dressed up as Kotori from Rewrite way back when I actually had the same B/H measurements as her
Outside of cons, since I haven't been to one in years, I like dressing like Kid Chameleon sometimes, though a little more feminine or androgynous?? since my father's leather jacket makes me look tiny and a wig also makes my face look rounder. So I just wear my little pleather jacket and when I had long hair I'd put it in a ponytail. Women's clothes really do fit me better rip
I'd love to do it again but I lost my sunglasses. At least they were cheap I guess

Re: Cosplay.
I've done a couple cosplays before, I tend to wear the same costume to a couple different conventions so I feel like I got my money's worth. Only ones I've got pictures of are the Scout from TF2, and Dark Flame Master from Chuunibyou.
At anime expo this year I'm going to be doing a group Free! cosplay as Rin one day, and then either crossplay as Rikka Takanashi or Link.

Nice cosplays, everyone! It's really nice to see that there are a few more CI cosplayers than I already knew about.
Personally, I've done a couple already.
I sort of want to cosplay Hanayo from Love Live! next but I haven't really decided yet.

Re: Cosplay.
I actually used to cosplay quite a bit when I was younger. I haven't in a few years though.
Here's a list of everything I've done, I'm not sure if I have pictures of any of them though:
- Sasori from Naruto
- Driffloon from Pokemon
- Umbreon from Pokemon
- Regular Len Kagamine
- Matryoshka Len Kagamine
- Dell Honne (Vocaloid)
- John Egbert from Homestuck
- Dave Strider from Homestuck
The last time I wore any of them was at Anime Expo 2013. I haven't been very interested in cosplaying since then, but if I were to cosplay again I'd want to make a cosplay of Quote from Cave Story, or make a casual cosplay of my Animal Crossing character. I also always wanted to do a male version of Suwako from Touhou, but I Never ended up doing that.

Y'all need to take it to the next level and dress up in animegao kigurumi, like this:

Re: Cosplay.
Those kigurumi outfits have always creeped me out. They don't look very realistic, since their faces are static they tend to blend together unless they have faces that really stand out (most of what I've sen is just random anime girls), they look super uncanny valley cause anime faces don't translate to 3D well, and they even involve bodysuits for cosplay outfits that involve showing skin.

Re: Cosplay.
It would be a bit disturbing if the kigurumi artists tilted their heads very slowly in unison; eliciting fear and dread as they stare at you with their gigantic, soulless, static eyes and jovial facial expressions. Also, hey, another thing to note is that males predominantly dress in kigurumi, since those skin suits would easily be able to disguise masculinity.
If kigurumi masks prove to be too creepy or too expensive (as they typically cost around $700 to $1200 to have custom made and handcrafted in Japan), then 2.5D masks might be a more suitable option. They're papercraft masks that show enough polygons to not dip into uncanny valley, unlike the expensive variety. Just look at this immaculate display of the papercraft's power.

I don't have any pictures, but last year I cosplayed as Amon at Ohayocon. It was pretty fun. I had some business cards that said "EQUALITY" on them, and just kinda left them in random places on the first day, and on the third day we went around to see how many we could find.
Instead of buying a costume outright, I actually made my own, and it came out really good considering it was my first time doing so. Looked almost as good as the ones my friends bought, honestly.

Re: Cosplay.
In 2013 I cosplayed as Rin Kagamine and went to AKon, but there were several fatal things to my costume:
It wasn't even half ready; we had started working on it only 3 weeks before AKon and what we got together didn't even resemble the vocaloid. I didn't have a wig, the right pants, shoes or the arm/leg sleeves. It was a huge embarrassment.
On my second trip in 2014, I went as this little cinnamon roll. This time I was fairly decent and I looked just like the character, but due to the obscurity of The Broken Angel, nobody recognized me.

Re: Cosplay.
Alright, lets get this thread going again, here's some pictures I took at Anime Expo
I've never done a cosplay where I would need a wig, so I figured hair dye would be more comfortable in the heat. Biiiiiig mistake. It was effective yeah, and it kept my hair in place, but every time I touched my hair or eyebrows my fingers would get covered in dye. Eventually I found out that the dye was transferring from my hair to my shoulders, and someone came up to me and asked if I needed sunscreen.

Speaking of Cosplay, I went as Gumshoe to the last con back in June.
It was really fun, and even though only one person asked me for my picture I think I enjoyed it.
My feet hurt like hell from the whole weekend though.

My only experience in actual cosplay was this last Halloween. Me and a few of my friends put together costumes of Metal Gear characters; I was Big Boss, and my friends were Kaz and Liquid. The costumes weren't super accurate or anything, but I think we got them down well enough that we were plenty recognizable. Unfortunately I don't have my phone at the moment, or I'd post the pictures...
