Schedules and Such

Post by Crazo3077 »

Maybe it's sharing too much, but I figured it could be a fun discussion:

What is your routinely schedule like?

---

Before my pursuits of management at work, I had a pretty simple routine going for myself: wake up at 9am, go online a bit, be at work at noon or 2pm, stay as late as 10:30pm or 11:30pm, and then go home, go online, and go to bed around 2am to be asleep before 3am. After I took on an overnight position at work for a few months, where I'd sleep from like 8am to 2pm and start work around 9pm to 7am, I pulled my daily schedule back an hour, so waking up at 8am, work shifts stayed the same, but I'd try to be in bed by 1am and asleep by 2am. It was nice.

Recently, though, my schedule has been bumpy, since I'm not in a consistent management role yet. Once I have a consistent role, then I'll have a mostly consistent schedule. But for now, some mornings I'm coming in as early as 5am, but more often 6am, and other days I'm in between 10am and noon. Managers get much longer shifts than I'm used to, but I don't mind that as far as work is concerned. Again, once I've got my own position, I'll have consistent days off, and consistent days for opening and closing shifts, so it won't be as painful, but gosh do I not enjoy waking up at 3am to be at work by 5am. It's sobering being able to say "I'm waking up when I used to be going to sleep."

Outside of work, aka the force the rules my life, I can't just sit in front of a computer all day: I actually like seeing people. Rarely will I try to make plans with someone before work, but sometimes I do, and when i have earlier shifts, definitely consider making plans with friends for after work. I used to even make late night plans for after a closing shift, but those are tricky to do when everyone gets adult jobs. Days off are weird for me, though, because I kinda prefer those days for being home and cleaning up, but if my girlfriend has the day off, we tend to just spend the whole day together instead of being responsible. (I am helping her get over her fears of driving, so I guess that counts as being responsible.) But when I have shorter periods of time, like between waking up and a closing shift that starts early, or after a closing shift where I don't open the next morning, I'm definitely going to be at a computer.

I guess I'd also encourage talking about eating schedules here too. I used to be really consistent when I only had closing shifts: eat breakfast an hour before I leave for work, and have a lunch/dinner at work, and on days off, try to do three meals in the day. But now, sometimes I have to bring breakfast to work and eat it on an early break, or even prepare to bring both a breakfast and a lunch. It'll probably be easier when I'm on a consistent schedule, but until then, it is weird. When I was still in college, I ate like four times a day: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night snack. Honestly I do miss that cycle, because I ate less per-meal. Now I have to add to meals to make them satisfy my body's needs, if I can even say they do.

Oh! I also have to shower every morning! My hair is long and curly, and I kinda sweat in my sleep. I sleep in a twin bed, because I like having extra room in my room for other stuff. I just sleep under a comforter and use two pillows. Sometimes I add a blanket in winter. I use a fitted sheet over my mattress, but don't really like bed sheets. Admittedly, though, I finally purchased a kigurumi and slept in it while staying at a hotel for a convention back in July, and with the room set to a pretty darn cold temperature, I didn't even really sweat and possibly had most comfortable sleep I've had in years. Though that could also have been due to the bed or the pillows and the temperature. My room gets hot, so it is hard to keep the room cold enough to justify my kigu all the time.

weekdays:

AM 6:30 - wake up

AM 6:32 - scorn the fact that I have English class and everything about it is awful

AM 7:00 to PM 3:00 - actual school

PM 3:15 - feel like I've been hit by the same bus that I've been getting hit by for the last year right after school

and that I've been lugging a backpack with too many things in it

just like last year

PM 3:30 - take a nap to relive myself of this pain

PM 6:30 - didn't work, do homework

PM 8:00-ish - eat dinner

PM 8:10 - continue unrelievable school suffering

PM 9:00 - do more homework / more suffering

weekends/summer vacation:

All day o' clock: even more suffering + time to play games with this thing in the back of my head constantly telling me that my free time is very limited

ideally:
6:00 AM wake up
6:00 AM-6:45 AM take shower, fix hair, etc
6:45 AM-7:00 AM make breakfast and lunch
7:00 AM-7:45 AM eat breakfast
7:45 AM-8:10 AM walk to school
8:10 AM-3:25 PM learn
3:25 PM-4:00 PM walk home
4:00 PM-5:00 PM work on homework
5:00 PM-8:30 PM relax
8:30 PM-9:00 PM get ready for bed
9:00 PM-10:00 PM get in bed
10:00 PM-6:00 AM sleep

what actually happens:
6:00 AM get thrust out of dream land by my phone
6:00 AM-6:15 AM get annoyed because i have to sit through more boring legally mandated education
6:15 AM-6:30 AM shuffle through laundry because i'm too lazy to sort through any of it, slowly get angry because i can't find an article of clothing
6:30 AM-7:15 AM finally take a shower
7:15 AM-7:30 AM reluctantly make myself breakfast and lunch, slowly realizing that i will have to do so for the rest of my life
7:30 AM-8:00 AM eat breakfast
8:00 AM-8:10 AM get dad to drive me to school since my knee gave out a few months ago and i'm not sure if i can walk there without it happening again
8:10 AM-3:25 PM sit through school, wishing that homework didn't exist and counting down the days until summer begins
3:25 PM-4:00 PM get dad to pick me up for the same reason listed above
4:00 PM-4:25 PM start my homework
4:25 PM-8:00 PM procrastinate
8:00 PM-8:30 PM realize that i didn't get my homework done and that i'm going to lose a lot of points for the class
8:30 PM-9:00 PM get ready for bed
9:00 PM-10:00 PM get in bed
10:00 PM-10:05 PM get angry because dad installed that dang circle thing that cuts off the internet at 10:00 PM
10:05 PM-12:00 AM try to get to sleep
12:00 AM-6:00 AM FINALLY sleep

life is hard tbh

I go to work. Hours vary.

On my days off, I do whatever.

On Sundays when I don't have to work, I go to church.

My days are pretty unscheduled, but a typical day looks something like:

Wake up anywhere between 5 and 8(usually between 6 and 7) without the use of an alarm clock.
Check e-mail without getting out of bed.
Check Chao Island for new posts, reply as I feel like it.
Check other forums I frequent for new posts, reply as I feel like it.
Load all my bookmarked YouTube channels to check for new videos.
Listen to any new videos.
Check my bookmarked fanfics, web serials, translated LNs, blogs, etc. for new chapters/posts, reading them as appropriate.
On a good day, I'm done with this by 11 AM or can drag myself away from it long enough to shower and dress around that time. On a bad day, I get so caught up in writing long posts its noon before I'm done with forums and decide to skip a morning shower.
Around Noon, I fix myself breakfast/lunch(usually a salad if we've got the stuff in the house, usually something thrown in the microwave otherwise). I usually don't eat a morning meal unless I have to leave the house in the morning.
After lunch and my daily internet routine are done, I might try to do something productive, but I usually just fall back into the habit of reading fanfiction or getting distracted by something on the internet.

In case it isn't obvious, I've fallen pretty hard into neetdom since graduating college last December. Sadly, an inaccessible accomodations process for the GRE has proved an insurmountable roadblock to Graduate school, already having a Bachelor's degree renders me ineligible for most forms of undergraduate financial aid my part-time attendance and long stay in college hadn't already made me ineligible for, I live in a small town with approximately zero meaningful job opportunities outside of education and government, and I lack the finances to seek employment in a better locale unassisted. I was working with my state's Division of Services for the Blind in hopes of getting some work experience to make up for the fact I spent most of my college career doing summer classes instead of summer internships and get my foot in the door with some tech companies in my state's capital, but those plans got interrupted when my father died in May and I got saddled with family responsibilities as the only surviving child and closest thing to a responsible adult in a house where my dad was the sole representative in the first of 4 generations. At present, its a stuggle just to keep the utilities on and food in the freezer, but hopefully the appointment I have with a lawyer tomorrow will finally allow me access to the money locked up in my dad's bank accounts and file the claims for my dad's life insurance, giving my family some much needed financial breathing room and hopefully freeing me up enough to resume efforts at finding worthwhile employment.

well my schedule is going to change very soon (tomorrow actually) because of college but i'll just post what my schedule is as of right now in life.
8-10am: wake up (bc i usually wake up around those times)
10-11am: mess around and check my social media, put up dishes or help my mom around the house if she needs it
11am-12pm(depending): watch jack's 1st video he uploads of the day, and then depending on how long it is, after that, i go on with my routine (yes i know his uploading schedule by heart)
12pm(depending)-2pm: eat late breakfast/lunch, help mom with laundry if she needs it, take animals out and feed them
2pm-3pm(depending); watch jack's 2nd video he uploads of the day, and then depending on how long it is, keep going on with my routine
3pm(depending)-5/6pm: mess around on social media, watch netflix, take care of animals
5/6pm-1am(depending): eat dinner, help put dirty dishes in dish washer and help clean the table after dinner, take a bath and then go on social media, relaxation time
and then bed, depending on what time i go to bed.

and as for when i start college, i'll be there all day from like 8am-5pm because i have classes all day so i'd assume it'd just be college all day, go home, eat dinner, do homework and study, watch new youtube videos, take a bath, check social media and then bed? i dunno. i'm just... assuming. idk what my life schedule will be like when i start college tomorrow.
