Do you cook? (Non Cooks Do Not Interact)

Post by Triert »

I like rice because it's cheap to make a lot of it really fast and good bang for your buck but I personally need to get a handle on learning how to enjoy beans.

Also, eat more chicken, marinade it, grill it, it's cheaper and ****.

My culinary skills are limited to microwave, toaster, and things that don't require actual cooking like salads and deli wraps. That said, I could in theory follow a baking recipe given a blind friendly kitchen and directions that use exact cooking times instead of vague things like "bake until golden brown" or some such.

I can make hamburgers and meatloaf. Spaghetti, grilled chicken, baked potatoes. Simple things. Chilidogs don't really count I guess, but I can prepare them with scientific precision. One time I did breadpudding.

So I don't cook often, but I'm a big fan of creating different types of pasta. Mixing and matching stuff to see what kind of flavor I can get.

As a 24 year old un-married man. I've learned how to prepare and cook many things including roasts, casseroles and soups and have even created my own chili recipe. My favorite things to bake are pies. Sometimes when I'm not working and have nothing to do, I I will make like 7 different pies while having Netflix playing the whole day.

Since rice was mentioned, I will say that it is one of my least favorite things to pre-pare as I can never seem to get it perfect.

I have an egg cooking impulse. I used to eat four or five scrambled eggs plus an equal amount of rice for breakfast, occasionally with cheese, and it would keep me going through the day, but I've dialed it back a bit, so lately I've just been having oatmeal, and I cook a couple fried eggs midday, usually with toast. Sometimes I sneak a third egg though. Have you guys ever tried putting fried egg in instant noodles?

not a fried egg, but i have done the egg in ramen trick

amazing thing, until it overflows from the foam.

cheese eggs and rice seems strange, then again i'd eat the eggs with rice only with sunny side eggs so the yolk would run so i can't imagine i sound any less different.

I still live with my parents, so I don’t have to cook for myself, but I like cooking, and I learn a lot from my mom.I work best with eggs, and I can make a good omelet. I usually have French Toast with eggs. When I make dinner, it’s usually spaghetti and meatballs, and my family loves it. On Thanksgiving, I always make cranberry sauce (I can’t stand the canned stuff), and it’s pretty easy to make. I used orange juice and brown sugar for it this year, and it was really good. I’ve also made pizza and pumpkin pie from scratch on my own terms.

i like to make rice in bulk so i can just put it on top of whatever else i got going on because i'm a lazy college student.
im having eggs for breakfast ? throw some rice and tomatoes on that junt.
a salad ? throw some rice on it, more filling.
I also live off of egg sandwhiches with hummus and tomatoes, those are pretty nice.
but if im ever at a loss of what to eat, i usually just add rice.
entp & generally crude lol
