Damn, those are AWESOME!
Have you tried glow-in-the-dark paint (if it exists) by any chance for these? I'd totally buy one for either N64 or Gamecube.

this is like me. i either print out things and glue them on, colour my controllects in with metallic textas, put stickers on or do drawings on them.moonsoul wrote:So, I just stay with slapping stickers on things and calling it one of a kind. XD

Thanks, errybody! :>
Mayo, glow paints are definitely on my list of things to try. It'd look pretty sick wicked as an inside out paint job.
It really bothers me when people put stickers on things cos they always peel and get all gross. Game stuff is whatever cos it's not usually super expensive, but I haaaate it when people put stickers on laptops and stuff. I once knew a girl (she sucks) who not only put stickers on her Macbook Pro, she TAPED THEM ON when they started to peel. With that super tacky clear shipping tape. It looked AWFUL. (it was extra ridiculous because she insisted left and right that her family was so poor, yet she had a f****** Macbook Pro which she could apparently afford to vandalize.)

If you are going to do stickers, at least invest in some vinyl. Vinyl stickers will provide a more professional finish, last longer, and, unlike paper stickers, will stay in one piece if you ever decide to remove them. Amazon appears to have a decent selection of adhesive-backed sheets. I could also possibly put some of you in contact with a few people that might be willing to cut professional quality stickers for your projects(Most of them specialize in stickers for puzzles, but game system customization is a similar application).

Re: Cosmetic modification of consoles/controllers/etc.
I don't bother with cosmetic modifications. Only functional ones.
I took apart my joystick to remove the recentering spring and applied duct tape to the part on the bottom so that it could stay in position if I let go of it. Works better.
I changed the drivers for my Xbox 360 controller to use XBCD and set my computer to debug mode so that I could use unsigned drivers (like XBCD). Works better.
I threw my Dreamcast controller at the wall due to frustration at playing Ikaruga. Works better.

DS Lite I guess? Or DSi. Heck maybe even 3DS!!
I think Teal and Red would go nicely. I love those colours together!
And yeah, just painting! Like you did with the Gameboy a while ago. :o

These modifications are so sexy! That's mind blowing!
I couldn't imagine changing anything about my game systems. I always want them to stay in the same condition in which they were purchased, for as long as that is practical. Although I did push that one button on the Gamecube that doesn't do anything and it got stuck pressed down forever.

BUMP, DOODS.
I've finally finished my babby. This had been in the works for a long time before I actually got around to backlighting it.
The buttons were dropped on the floor when this was all taken apart, so they're a tiny bit chipped. :<
OH WELL, though. I'm super happy with it! The light is super bright in the dark.

Wait? Why make the screen red, is that the backlight?
Re: Cosmetic modification of consoles/controllers/etc.
yup. the red is the backlight.
red because it matches the buttons.

youguysyouguysYOU GUYS.
Bad news. Also good news.
Bad news first: I single-handedly ****ed up THREE gameboy pocket LCD screens. All I was trying to do was backlight a see-through lime green (extreme green) pocket, but it didn't really work out. Oops.
GOOD NEWS! My mom's co-worker, out of nowhere, sent a gameboy home for me. I was like "wowowowow cool!" until I saw it in person, and then I was like "!!!!!!!!!!" because it is literally in PERFECT condition. It looks like it has only been played a handful of times. Since it's so nice, I'm not gonna paint it. I did, however, switch the guts from my red Gameboy into this one, so it now has a yellow backlight! I ordered some clear orange buttons for it & some yellow LEDs (to replace the red power LED)
I also received an ice blue gameboy pocket in the mail today. It's beautiful. That picture isn't mine, but it's accurate. I forgot that I also ordered a gold backlit pocket at the same time, so I might give the blue one to my friend!
Also, my friend Nate and I are going to be shoving the guts from a gameboy color into a gameboy pocket. Updates on that coming whenever.
I'm gonna start making youtube videos about gameboys and other related ****. Mostly about painting.

How many gameboys/gameboy pockets/gameboy colours do you have? Seems like you have heaps. XD
Also, image link doesn't seem to work :[ but I am looking forward to seeing those videos you plan on making, it sounds really interesting.

Would you still be interested in that? Since I have a 3DS, I would be willing to offer my DS Classic for it, provided I get it back after its painted. I would even be willing to pay you for labor and return shipping. If you are interested, we can work out the details via PM.Poseidon wrote:I'd really dig painting a DS phat, though.

@Mayo: I have ~17 gameboys total right now. :>
And lame! It works for me. Anyway, here's my ice blue one. I put some cute little clear red buttons in it. She looks pretty snazzy now.
@Mewtamer: Yeah! I'll dissect one of mine first, though, so I don't have any unexpected problems with yours.
