Tycoon Games.

What's your opinion on Tycoon games?

I like most of the ones I've played, and I suppose my favorite aspect of the games is managing resources, and I find myself enjoying it the most when they don't give me an objective, and you start from the bottom, to eventually become a power house that can afford almost anything. My favorite right now would have to be Zoo Tycoon, with it's expansions. (I haven't ever played the second one)

Roller coaster tycoon 2 is perhaps my favorite tycoon game ever. It was so simple and allowed me to create my own theme parks, including six flags. Not only did you have some really famous (back then at least) coasters already made for you, you could also create your own.

When it comes to other tycoon games though I'm not sure. While I loved RCT2, I never really explored the genre beyond that single game and some other games in the series. I think I like them though.

Zoo Tycoon for me. The second one is really cool because of the ability to go into first person view, and the animals are less picky. No more of that "You put one too many rocks in here. No wait now there's too little." god that drove me crazy. But the first one is super cool because dinosaurs and you can have mermaids too. I recently found my disc too so heck yeah.

Rollercoaster Tycoon was a pain. Building rides was too hard for me. But it always looked super cool... Still pretty fun to play even if I suck.

I have a GBA game based on Jurassic Park III that is basically a tycoon game. I found it insufferably difficult. The dinosaurs died too often and the customers could never be pleased. Sometimes I wished the carnivores would wander out of their pens and go around the map gobbling up the unhappy tourists, but sadly the people who made the game seemed unacquainted with how Jurassic Park movies go. The promotional deals were always less profitable than they were supposed to be too....

This, this is great. I remember my favorite part about Zoo Tycoon was making a maze with a T-Rex in it, and dropping guests into there, and watching them run until eventually the T-Rex got them.
