Neither of those really qualify for FPS though. Metroid Prime is more a First Person Adventure, and the game aims for you. Slime Rancher just seems to be a game set in the first person perspective where you raise slime monsters by shooting stuff at them, nothing intensive happens there, the gun adds nothing but a unique element to the game, you could've easily made the user feed them by walking up to them.
Maybe you just dislike FPS's?

Re: Overwatch
both do qualify as fps games
what you're thinking of retro is first person shooting games with multiplayer, which given the fact that the genre is conjoined at the hip with multiplayer makes sense to put them as one in the same.
he doesn't seem to like playing multiplayer fps with other people, which makes enough sense if you've ever turned your microphone on.

Neither are classed as First Person Shooters by Wikipedia.
"Metroid Prime[a] is a first-person action-adventure video game developed by Retro Studios and Nintendo for the GameCube video game console."
"Slime Rancher is a life simulation video game developed and published by Monomi Park.[1]"
You are right though, they're talking about multiplayer First Person Shooters and such, they most likely don't like things like CoD/Battlefield/Halo.
Although if you want to dismiss this post by pointing out the use of Wikipedia then whatever.

Re: Overwatch
Uhh, I'm not going to dismiss the use of Wikipedia, but I will note that excerpt from the Slime Rancher page doesn't list that it's even a first person game to begin with.
As for not liking FPS games as a whole, I like them conceptually, like fighting games, and am just as selective of them trying to find one I actually like.
The conclusion that I came to after playing Overwatch was that I simply don't like to mechanic of ammo, and to an extent, aiming. (Aiming was my favorite part of playing Prime 3, so I'm not 100% on that part yet)
That and I like Single Player more, but that's something else.
Voice chat is its own problem, and I simply disabled it before playing.
Common FPS games, however get shunned immediately by me for having gameplay ruining lighting effects and also looking dull for the same reason.

Re: Overwatch
I saw the overwatch twitter rip a streamer hard for doing a bronze-gm challenge.
The amount of divine justice the team does is good imo, i'm still mad over roadhog but at least they're making sure the little people are safe.
Also wikipedia is complete crap, and if i need to pull out the sandwich chart of "what is and what isn't a sandwich" I will in this situation.

Halloween is back. (does a jig)
It's almost Blizzcon, too, so World Cup and stuff. Esports. Y'know.
