I hear enough whining about Bastion POTGs on the subreddit
Well the main issue is that they're calling it "Play of the Game" when really it should be "Who got the most eliminations the fastest" - it usually goes to a Bastion simply for playing Bastion.
For example, in the clip I posted, if I didn't pull off that ult, we were looking at losing. I turned the game around by clearing out most of their team, on the payload, in overtime, 3m away from them capping. Bastion shooting three dudes in a corner wasn't at all important to the progress of the game.

EDIT: I'm actually starting to think you might be wrong. I just got this POTG. There was a level 65 Soldier 76 in this game. There was all sorts of neat stuff going on. And what did it pick? Me doing this

Your definition of "Play of the Game" may differ from Blizzard's, but its their game and their algorithm that determines POTGs.

Also, not every system is perfect. There have been multiple cases of things like that happening, where POTGs were things like a Winston walking out of his spawn for 12 seconds. Blizzard has already come out and said they're looking at the POTG algorithm (thanks CTLC) to improve it, and complaining about it here won't really do anything.

So the loot drop rates are actually alright, seems that it is not random each time and rather works on a "pity timer", in that you are pretty much guaranteed to get a Legendary skin after 25 crates that did not give one, same for Epic which sits at around 10 crates between each one.

I'm a bit salty that I've only got something like 2 epics and 2 legendary skins in 25 unboxes

When it comes to loot crates, do you get stuck with copies if you get a skin you already have?

You get 1/5th of the item's value in gold if you get dupes. So, if you get a blue item (which are worth 75 gold), you get 15 gold. If you get stuck with a dupe voiceline, you get 5 gold, and so on.

Man I'm looking forward to those D.Va buffs. Not that I do particularly poorly with her, I'm loving her, I just want to be even better with her.

Image

I get very cheesed off by Mei's invincibility thing. As someone who mainly plays pubs (tho I might buy Overwatch for PC over the Summer, I'm really loving it) it's like her basically getting a second try at a gunfight she already lost, but her opponent gets a disadvantage this time with less HP. Maybe I just need to git gud. =w=

D.Va is so easy to win games with. She's got decent up close damage, a good gap closer, a suicide ult, a really solid weapon mechless for both long and close range, a bullet shield that absorbs almost all attacks for a limited time, and 650 combined HP not counting mech refreshes. But hey, if they wanna give her a buff, I'm down either way.

But she also has a large hitbox that's incredibly easy to hit up close, which is one of her main things is to be a close quarters tank that flanks. She can't effectively do her role right now. I'm wondering if this buff will make her better at her job, or change it.

Pretty much what Fox said. Her critbox is _massive_ right now, to the point where with higher levels of people it's difficult to look at people without getting melted. You pretty much just have to be more creative and stealthy than you really should have to be with her, or else she's an ultimate battery for the enemy team.

I'm hoping the buff either does something with her critbox or stacks her mobility, or both. It'd be nice to be able to move more while firing, so that targets couldn't just stop my reign of terror sometimes just by walking away when I've gotten the drop on them. She's my favourite character to play, so it'd be nice to be able to lock her in when I load into a game without having to second-guess whether I should go with another hero for better performance. It often doesn't stop me choosing her anyway and doing well, but a lot of the times teams will just shut you down before you can get close.

If it weren't for D.Va's ult she'd be almost useless compared to the other tanks.
Reinhardt can absorb damage, Zarya is all around better if you want to do some quick damage tanking, Winston is pretty good at jumping around to where he shouldn't be, and Roadhog's hook is so broken that he can easily kill far more people with 4 shots than D.Va can who has an infinite clip.

It sucks because D.Va was the character that I was most excited to play and it turns out there's limited situations where she's worth choosing.

D.VA's one of the weakest Heroes in the game currently. Her ult is incredibly strong, and she's the only tank with the ability to absorb literally any type of damage, but her self-slow when firing and huge crit hurtbox really limit how strong she could be.

Right now the strongest Heroes in the game (on the PC version) are McCree, Widowmaker, and Winston (because he's the best Widowmaker counter).

Also, it's been confirmed that the console and PC versions of the game will be balances separately.

So I got the Night Ops legendary Soldier 76 skin
It's pretty ugly but I'll take it
All I want is to stop running around with all default loadouts and it's not helping by giving me tons of stuff for one character and nothing for another (eg. Junkrat is 100% default right now)

Wait holup they balancing the version separately? What? That is awful for a competitive game.

No it isn't, lmao, you do realize that not every version plays the exact same? Hell, currently the turrets in the console versions do less damage because of slower reaction times

Well, I got it on PC. I haven't played around with it much yet, but god damn it looks better on PS4 since I'm on a laptop, even if the laptop is relatively new.

How do I get into the CI Overwatch cool club?

You simply flashbang then fan the hammer.

On a related note

Just unboxed Goddess Symmetra, after a great round as Symmetra funnily enough. That makes it 2 legendaries in a row, again! Nice skin this time. I was pretty salty about going 17 crates with nothing but basically blue ranks but it's paid off.

I've only ever gotten legendary coins, never a skin. Kinda sucks honestly. =~=

Speaking of flashbanging and fanning the hammer, I suck so bad with McCree. Even using his cheap ass method I just couldn't play him. I'll stick to muh edgy shotgun man.

I don't think it's as bad as it seems. I prefer having differences over the console version feeling busted but not being fixed because "it's balanced on PC" or vise-versa, which is the usual approach. Sure, it separates the scenes, but having different but multiple scenes is better than leaving one version to be the definite version for competitive play and the competitive scenes on the other versions to wither.

Even the competitive scene of Melee, which has different versions by region but for the same console, doesn't seem to be hindered by the differences.

Eh, PAL v NTSC 1.2 is still a p noticeable difference that can throw off players, especially ones of top tier characters like Fox and Marth.

Apparently a patch is rumoured to be coming out some time this month. Rumours are floating around that the patch will include possibly 3 new maps, anywhere from 1 to 3 new heroes, a round of buffs and nerfs, namely MCree and (potentially) Widow nerfs and D.VA buffs, ranked matchmaking, and possibly new skins. If anything, ranked matchmaking and the round of buffs and nerfs are outright confirmed, and I would be surprised if the game didn't get at least one new map and the new Sniper-based Healer support that's been talked about for a while now. 3 maps and 3 Heroes literally a month after the game came out would be absolutely insane if anything, but I wouldn't put it past Blizzard, they've been doing pretty much everything right with the game so far.

I'd be surprised if we get 3 new heroes in one patch this soon after release. I'd guess that the next character would be a Pyro, possibly like the character on the left here (provided it wasn't just a very early version of Mei). New maps would be great.

So I played for about 4-5 hours today with one of my friends that has Overwatch on PS4 (PC is good but I'm better at PS4, used to the control scheme and aim assist) and holy crap, it makes a huge difference. Even just playing with him, we could organise huge pushes that won us games.

Also Zenyatta is an awesome teammate.

1. That is an early version of Mei, 2. Mei's literally Overwatch's Pyro in everything but name, and 3. It's already been confirmed that the next Hero will be a Marksman Support.
