Simple question, what games do you absolutely hate (or at the very least dislike), but still respect.
For me, I would say Five Nights at Freddy's. A horrible game series imo, with FNAFW being so poorly made that Scott was forced to take it off Steam.
Yet I can respect him and his games for the effort he at least puts into making them deeper on a lore level. Yes, he pushes out a stupid amount of sequels, but each one at least delves into the lore of this world and introduces new theories and whatnot. Its narrative complexity doesn't justify playing the awful games, but I can still respect him for making an effort to provide more than jumpscares in his work.

First off, shouldn't this be in Other Games?
Anyways,
New Super Mario Bros. As in the very first one for the DS.
I didn't enjoy very much of it (And quit playing), the physics bothered me (Super Mario World does, and always will have the best 2D Mario physics), but it was nice to see a new 2D Mario game.
Before they made 12 more of the same game.
Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life.
I didn't like it. But they put effort into it someone else would like. It's just not my style of game.

I'm not really sure myself. I mean, if I hate a game it's usually because of good reasons. I couldn't really respect it.
I mean, I guess I can respect those developers that had to follow stupid design decisions done by the higher ups. Such as 343's original concept for Halo 4 was deemed "too traditional" by higher ups and play testers. Which is incredibly stupid for a game that's meant to stick to it's roots. So while I hate Halo 4, I don't necessarily hate the developers who wanted the original Halo 4 true to Bungie's Halo.

Basically any M-Rated game.
It's not my type of thing, I dislike the inappropriate content, and I feel that some people are playing these games at too young of an age. But, I don't "hate on" people who do like them, and I can still see the appeal for certain games.
It's just not something I'd personally play, even when I'm officially old enough to do so. Maybe my opinion will change, maybe not. I don't know.

Zelda games that I hate.
They still good and such, I just personally hate them as far as Zelda is concerned. Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask.
Skyward Sword the only one I don't respect.
DmC: Devil May Cry is another one. It's a good game, it's got it's own story, so I respect it and kinda like it, but as far as Devil May Cry goes, I hate it.

To be honest, everyone dislikes DMC:dmc. Mostly because of Dante, but also because of the gameplay itself. It's nowhere near as good as DMC3 and 4.

I think DmC is a nice easy intro to hack and slash. It's nowhere near as hard or rewarding as DMC 3 is, and when I got big into DMC after going to check out the anime and liking it way more, I was like "WHOAA this is way more difficult right off the bat, but it also looks so much cooler" and I'm still trying to work on it, but I've been losing my free time lately.
But I do feel really conflicted about it sharing the same names and all. I just like to think of it as it's own thing and it makes me respect it more.
