E3 2016: The Next Generation of Disappointment
It's that month again and for some reason Retro hasn't made the thread yet. He probably learned you shouldn't make this thread twelve days before the actual event. Oh, well.
Quick FAQ
What is E3? The Electronics Entertainment Expo is an annual showcase by the big developers and publishers of what they're cooking. If there's a big thing coming this year or several later (The Last Guardian was revealed at E3 2009; still hasn't come out), nine times out of ten it will be revealed at E3. The event lasts several days, so in addition to that, there's usually a ton of new information regarding already revealed titles and a lot of room for the reveal of smaller ones.
Why the pessimism? Because while there's always the chance of something like, say, the Melee reveal, there's an even bigger chance of 1/4th the presentation time being spent on something nobody asked for (It's Riiidge Raaaceeer!) or a segment dedicated to a live singing performance, for whatever reason.
Who'll be presenting and when?

What is expected to be seen? It is rumored that Sony's and Microsoft's next iterative consoles will be revealed. Nintendo will be showing a lot of the next Zelda, but hasn't mentioned the NX. The next iterations of all yearly franchises, like COD: Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1, will definitely be there. Naturally, there will be new reveals and, likely, information about new hardware, such as Sony's go at VR. Dishonored 2, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Persona 5, and Titanfall 2 have been confirmed as well.
So, what are you expecting? Think Nintendo's pulling a fast one and executing the NX reveal in secret? Are you benching on a sequel to that one game you really like? Most importantly, are you ready for the re-ignition of the console war?

Re: E3 2016: The Next Generation of Disappointment
Here's what happens when I'm reminded that E3 is a thing:
First, I'm gonna not care.
Then, I'm gonna watch it and actually care just a little bit.
Next, I'm gonna think a few of the games announced are pretty cool...
And then, they get released and I forget they ever happened.

But sometimes, performances nobody asked for are the best ones.Chaos the Light Chao wrote:a segment dedicated to a live singing performance, for whatever reason.

Re: E3 2016: The Next Generation of Disappointment
ok so after june 13th everything main conference important ends, i'll mark that on my big girl hello kitty wall calendar
after that i'll see how delusional nintendo is this year because i don't care about zelda at all
most interested in sony, square enix, mass effect, and also microsoft because this is their last chance to make me care about their ips. i just hope the vr stuff that i don't care about isn't too heavy (i'm sure i'll hear VR 1,000 times followed by a meekly spoken 500 USD)

Re: E3 2016: The Next Generation of Disappointment
All I want out of E3 is for a Dishonored 2 release date and Nintendo to be entertaining to watch. Nintendo's E3's aren't really for caring about the new releases.

Re: E3 2016: The Next Generation of Disappointment
ONLY 10 MORE DAYS UNTIL E3 (if we count EA's conference)
Here's hoping for:
Games from Sony
Games from Microsoft
Games from Nintendo
Games from EA
Games from Bethesda
Games overall
No but seriously, I do hope some great games are shown. If Shenmue 3 can happen LITERALLY anything can happen. I hope Sony surprise us one more time this E3 and not just ride on "eh, we're going to sell around 100m PS4's by the end of the generation, why even try at this point" and just show us some mediocre games/lies. Microsoft doesn't want to take 2nd place even though they will so I'm hoping they try as well, they're always an interesting wildcard since they really want to try and we might see something different from them. Nintendo I just want to have something good, ANYTHING good at this point. As for EA and Bethesda, I don't really care much. Bethesda will show Skyrim 2 and Fallout 4 DLC and EA will show Battlefield 1 and that's about all I can remember those companies having of importance.
Hope it's good this year.

Re: E3 2016: The Next Generation of Disappointment
Even if I could see, I wouldn't be very excited. Outside of Nintendo IPs, most of which haven't been well-managed in years, most of the franchises I'd be interested in are either long dead in any worthwhile capacity or more likely to be shown off at the Tokyo Game Show than E3. Seriously, other than Nintendo and Sony, are any big names from the Japanese gaming industry confirmed to be at E3 this year?

Oh here.
It's the times for E3 with each timezone that's important.

Added to OP, Retro.

most of these seem reasonable.Pufflehugs wrote:SOMETHING GOOD
In the picture Retro posted, Square-Enix and Kadokawa are listed as having presentations, though Square's seems to be specifically for Deus Ex. Sega and Namco Bandai typically show up as well. If you want, give me your timezone and I can make a text-based list of the times.Jeffery Mewtamer wrote: Seriously, other than Nintendo and Sony, are any big names from the Japanese gaming industry confirmed to be at E3 this year?

EA's conference was ****ing nothing.
Battlefield 1 was barely a game.

I've never watched any e3 event. It would only make me disappointed.

I enjoyed EA's conference. Though all i expected was their one cute indie game they would announce, and I got what I wanted. Fe looks really cute. Definitely something I'll look into picking up

EA's presentation didn't fail to contract my insides from hardcore violent cringe.
There was too much to list, and only the stomach pains and headache can define how they present themselves.
But adding a story mode to FIFA is honestly the most interesting thing I've seen them do today
