Does a chao forget what he learned in school after a rebirth

I'm just wondering, because I like teaching my chao stuff to do and making the garden a more levely place, but do I have to go through all the waiting and class go-ing every time it rebirths? *sorry if this is a really short post, I couldn't find this information anywhere else*
