  • We are the forums supportive users, encouraging positivity and kindness.
  • We the members of this project aspire to provide a means of support for troubled and conflicted users. We under no circumstances mean to insubordinate or replace the CI Community staff; nor do we intend to take disciplinary action into our own hands; nor do we wish to patronize other users. We simply wish to provide a valuable, friendly source of help that we feel could foster a stronger sense of community and help bolster compassion and understanding amongst the forum’s users. We aim to provide assistance as follows regarding:

    • Topic Maintenance and Post Management
    • Criticism and Feedback
    • Mediation and User Interaction
    • Role modeling and New Users
    • Encouragement and General Support

    TOPIC MAINTENANCE AND POST MANAGEMENT:
    There are times when a user finds that their topics are locked or derailed and become discouraged their thoughts aren’t valued or wanted. Our support group would give said users assistance devising topics to avoid locks by discussing better ways of thread composition, keeping discussion on track, and responding to users in a more civilized manner. When a user has broken a rule and doesn’t understand why, rather than us enforcing rules, we can provide suggestions that may help users avoid getting in trouble.

    CRITICISM AND FEEDBACK:
    It is easy for writers, artists, and content creators to become discouraged when feedback isn’t received/constructive criticism is not provided or users become disillusioned with their work. Our support group would ensure user creations are given at least some attention and that inexperienced or disillusioned writers and artists receive encouragement and advice.

    MEDIATION AND USER INTERACTION:
    We would like to offer a neutral party to mediate disagreements between users not explicitly dealt with by the staff or the rules. For example, suppose there is an altercation taking place in a fan club where no rules have been broken. The users involved may willingly come and seek a fair, neutral, and outside view on the matter, but we will not host an argument or backseat moderate. We will also promote healthy, positive ways of addressing our peers.

    ROLE MODELING AND NEW USERS:
    New users often have difficulty joining the community. We would point them the right direction if they have questions, encourage them to contribute to the community, and give them the advice they need for successful engagement of the forums. We would provide a means of support for those feeling they are unwanted, and discuss the etiquette, expectations, and behavior that will help them succeed. We can also aid them in making friends.

    ENCOURAGEMENT AND GENERAL SUPPORT:
    Whether it concerns depression, disease, LGBT support, stress, or personal crises, our group is the platform for compassion and understanding for these users, and will do our best to get them back on their feet, cheer them up, or motivate them to try professional support.

    GENERAL RULES AND EXPECTATIONS FOR OUR SUPPORT GROUP:
    These are rules both for you to follow and the group members, please read these if you are interested in taking up our offer for support.

    General rules:
    Do not abuse our group/members/support system/etc.
    This is common knowledge. We will not tolerate/accept anybody who wants "support" with matters that are obviously jokes. This is a support group that is here for real situations, not your amusement.
    Do not flame/harass anybody in this topic.
    This means, do not insult someone you are mad at/dislike/etc. We encourage you to please keep it to yourself, as flaming in posts is against the rules of Chao Island forums. We are not responsible for your flaming outside of this topic. We understand you may be angry/hateful at another person but please take responsibility and be kind and we will help you to find solutions.
    Follow the rules of Chao Island.
    Simple enough. We highly encourage you to do so. Read them here.
    Report to me if any of the group members insult you in anyway.
    They will be kicked from being a supportive user.
    Even if you are not an official "Supportive User", you can still post ways to help out a troubled user.
    If a user decides to make their troubles public in this topic, you are free to give them advice and help them out. Please be kind and respectful if you decide to help.


    Rules for group members to follow:

    Always be open and helpful to every user.
    If you are not okay with helping a user for your own reasons, please hand the situation over to another member and do not just leave the user asking for support left with no help.
    Be respectful and mindful of the users situation. Always try to learn the full story.
    Do not harass/flame/yell/insult/threat/etc. the user on any means. If you can't handle the user anymore, please ask another member to help them out. Always try to learn the full story.
    DO NOT push the user to give you personal information.
    If they are not comfortable with sharing something, take a step back and do not ask them about it again. If a user is not willing to share something with you, be respectful of it. Personal information examples are their full name, address, age, personal life, etc.

Well I figure I'll give an application even though I'm in it.

Name: I don't really mind what you call me, but I go by 3 common names. Fox Boy (or Fox), Aidan, Nano.

Why you think you are supportive/helpful: I'm a little rusty, but I was usually always the extinguisher when problems arose between my friends. I could settle the argument, have them make up, and be back to laughing and playing in no time.
How would you help two users who are fighting?: I suppose it depends. If the users were fighting over who gets to do what, I'd offer that they flip a coin or do something else where there's a fair and equal chance for either user to get what they want. If it was about hurtful comments I'd have to sit each user involved down and ask them for their story, explain to the person who hurt the other why it might've been hurtful to the other user, how to get across their opinion in a nicer way, or in the least get them to cool down and suggest they apologize. For the victim I'd see if they maybe instigated the problem, point out why this happened, comfort them if it was some sort of comment made out of nowhere, or perhaps ask them to apologize in case they made a hurtful comment as well. Just a few examples I guess.
Experience with being helpful: Prevented a suicide, stopped an argument from destroying two friends, got a friend to apologize to someone they hated, I randomly say "hi" and "you're pretty" or "you're handsome" to random people at my school on on the street to help them have a better day haha.
Tell me about yourself: I'm a veteran CI user who has had a checkered past I guess. I sometimes do bad things and sometimes do good things. Balance that karma am I right? In all honest though, I've been trying to change my attitude in numerous ways. Random compliments, joining an anti-bullying club at my school, and just recently this. I hope to help everyone that I can while being as neutral and unbiased as possible.

Yo. I'm Alex, or wic., a 16 year old guy living in Michigan. I suffer from bipolar disorder, a mood disorder where I will swing from periods of extreme happiness to extreme periods of depression. Usually with medication, I'm alright, but this disorder has given me something great. It's given me the ability to empathize with anyone who is depressed, even if they don't know why they're depressed, which is something not everyone can do. Its a double edged sword, but I hope to make some good use of it.

Another thing I'm uniquely qualified in helping with are LGBT issues. Now, I'm not really prone to mentioning this aside from the whole 'Gay Jesus' joke because it's not a label I want to be defined by but, I'm gay. Going through that can be scary and lonely, especially if you're on the younger side. All I know is that I would have killed to have someone there to help me through it when I was 12, especially because of my whole crisis of faith thing.

I feel that my forte here will be helping people one on one. Interpersonal communications really aren't my thing. I would urge you to contact me if you're feeling depressed. This ranges from just feeling a little down to a full blown existential crisis. We'll get through it together. Also if you just need a good friend on here, or if you're new and need someone to show you the ropes, I'm here for you.

Anyways, I consider myself easy to talk to. I'm honestly more of a DWEEB than I let on. There is a plethora of things/topics I enjoy. Video games, politics, tumblr., awful music, movies, and I'm a huge TV buff.
