Re: shuckles' moves
Depends on if you want STAB moves or something along the line. With Withdrawl, you can increase the attack of Rollout, and also protect yourself from damage. This also works in your favor since it will do more damage, being the same type as Shuckle. And Each time, it will grow stronger. I would get rid of Constrict for maybe an attack that increases your attack/decreases enemy attack. As for the fourth move, I'm not sure what it would be. Maybe some Ground-Type move like Earthquake, Magnitude, or Dig.

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Minty, when you're finished raising your team, what will the Pokemon, Moves, Items, etc. be? These are needed more than your current team, for this is what you'll be battling with.
Edit:
Redpan, Shuckle is best used as a wall. I suggest this, or something similar:
Shuckle @ Leftovers
Sturdy : Quiet
EV's: 252 Special Defense/252 Defense/4 HP
Toxic
Protect
Acupressure
Attract
Safeguard
Sorry if it's no good; I'm just learning Walls.
Shadou, Defense Curl is what doubles Rollout's power. Not Withdraw.

This is just a second-option team for battling Gym leaders and such. I just need reccomendations for moves and items, ect.

Re: shuckles' moves
Shuckle is terrible in terms of offense. It was built for defense. Here's the movesets I suggest. I know a few that are fairly effective.redpan wrote:what moves should i teach my shuckle?
moves:
withdrawl
constrict
Nature: Impish
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Moves:
Toxic
Wrap(to keep them from switching out and avoid Toxic)
Rest
Protect
Or
Nature: Impish
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Moves:
Toxic
Stealth Rock
Double Team/Protect
Rest
These sets are useless against Steel types and Poison types, but to be honest, Shuckle can't really beat anything effectively without Toxic. Power Swap is an option, but it's extremely risky and rarely works. And it really can't defeat anything short of maybe Caterpie with offensive moves. And you need to EXP Share train it, sadly. Well, you don't NEED to, but it's the easiest way.
You're thinking Defense Curl. Withdrawl doesn't raise Rollout's power. Plus, even on the fifth strike, with Defense Curl and the STAB, it'd be pretty weak. Like I said, Shuckle was built for defense.ShadouZaHejjihoggu wrote:Depends on if you want STAB moves or something along the line. Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Earth Power is totally useless here. Even with Power Trick, it does practically nothing, since Power Trick doesn't affect Special Attack. Try swapping it for Stone Edge. And choose either Offense or Defense. Having a mix of both puts you at a horrible disadvantage. A good set for an offensive Shuckle could be Power Trick, Stone Edge, Rock Polish and Rest. Build up speed, heal, swap and destroy. Again though, offensive Shuckles are really risky.redpan wrote:my new current team!(i also keep some others in my team that i train)
shuckle lv.31

I'd suggest Spore, but it can't be learned now, since it's evolved. Instead, I suggest Seed Bomb, Facade, Brick Break and Thunder Punch.breloom/maple fist lv.34
nature:adamant
ability:poison heal
item:toxic orb

Swap Thunderbolt out for Grass Knot. And forget the Light Orb. It only works for Pikachu. It does nothing for Raichu.raichu/felix lv.40
nature:rash
ability:static
item:light orb/zap plate
moves:
fly (from pokewalker)

Since this set is a Special Attack set, you don't need Dragon Dance. If you want speed, use Agility. And since all moves are special, Draco Meteor isn't a great idea. You could swap it for Dragon Pulse, or replace the Shell Bell with a White Herb. However, in my opinion, due to the Impish nature(-Sp.Atk, + Defense), I'd just make it a physical Attacker. Waterfall, Outrage, Dragon Dance and Iron Head. It's a fairly effective set, I find.kingdra/sydra lv.43
nature:impish
ability:swift swim
item:shell bell
moves:
surf
hydro pump
draco meteor
flash cannon/dragon dance
Fairly good, but you might wanna swap out Giga Impact for something. Stone Edge seems to be popular with Donphans. Also, you could replace Thunder Fang with Seed Bomb, for a real surprise against Water Types. Pretty effective at silencing Ground types too.donphan lv.62
nature:quiet
ability:sturdy
item:bright powder
moves:
giga impact
thunder fang
stealth rock
earthquake
Scrap all special moves, this thing is better used as a physical attacker, what with the Adamant nature and all. Fire Punch is great for it, Shadow Claw coveres quite a few pokemon. Earthquake is really helpful here too, and Thunder Punch can flatten Water and Flying easily.typloshon/Inferno lv.64
nature:adamant
ability:blaze(duh)
item:quick claw
moves:
eruption
rock climb/blast burn
flamethower
shadow claw

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
1: Like I said, one or the other. Using both is useless. Shuckles defensive technique requires Toxic on almost every set, so half defense is horrible.
2: It's easy to get more.
3: It can.
4: It is, but with Thunder, there's no need for Thunderbolt, and Grass Knot covers it's ground weakness. And like I said, Light Ball is utterly useless on it.
5: It's worth it though.

In HG/SS, fighting the trainers in the Trainer House(Viridian City). In Platinum, none.

Ok, I'm raising my new Beldum, and I wanted a rating on how it is. I haven't arranged a team for it yet, so it's kind of a solo pokemon right now.

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Protect>Gyro Ball for Shuckle. Even with it's horrid speed, Gyro Ball will do barely anything.
Anyways, I need a rating for my Battle Tower team.
Pokemon: Orinco(Lapras)
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Modest
Ability: Shell Armour
Moves:
- Perish Song
- Block
- Sing
- Dream Eater(for HP restoration)
Strategy: Basically, Sing, Block, Perish Song then restore HP until the count hits 1. Then, just withdraw.
Pokemon: Cujo(Arcanine)
Item: Heat Rock
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Intimidate
Moves:
- Flare Blitz
- Sunny Day
- Morning Sun
- Thunder Fang
Strategy: Flare Blitz is the main attack. With 140 power, Sun and STAB boosts, it can deal some heavy damage. Morning Sun is for healing the Recoil, and Thunder Fang for Water types.
Pokemon: Luna(Butterfree)
Item: Occa Berry
Nature: Mild(can't change it or I'll lose Morning Sun)
Ability: Compound Eyes
Moves:
- Bug Buzz
- Energy Ball
- Sleep Powder
- Morning Sun
Strategy: If the Sunlight is left from Arcanine, Luna get's the boosted revovery. Energy Ball get's rid of Rock types, and Bug Buzz for STAB. Sleep Powder is to give Luna to kill any Fire types.

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
If your'e other two pokemon are not KO'd yet, you might want to swap Bug Buzz with U-Turn to get Luna out of the frenzy.
See how it works out.
Anyways... How's this?
Sherox/Scizor
Ability: Tecnician
Pursuit
Bullet Punch
U-Turn
Roost
No escaping from him with Pursuit. And with a Technician and STAB boosted Bullet Punch, it'll be easier for me to deal the most amount of damage first. U-Turn to get out from fire types (Too risky).
MiniMe/Minun
Item: Bright Powder
Thunderblot
Baton Pass
Nasty Plot
Flash

Scizor seems a little...predictable. As for Minun, I think a Shucca Berry would be better.

Double Destruction.
Pokemon: Bastiodon
Ev: 252 Atk, 129 Def, 129 Sp. Def
Ability: Sturdy
Item: Life Orb/ Shuca Berry
Nature: Brave
Moves: Iron Head
:::::::: Stone Edge
:::::::: Rock Polish
:::::::: Curse
Pokemon: Togekiss
Ev: 129 Def, 129 Sp. Def, 252 Speed
Ability: Hustle
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Jolly or Timid
Moves: Follow Me
:::::::: Substitute/Protect
:::::::: Aura Sphere
:::::::: Roost
Ok, so here's how this is gonna work. The first 3 turns, Bastiodon uses Rock Polish to get its speed way up, while not getting damage because Togekiss is going to be using Follow me. If its HP gets low during that, just use Roost. Then, use a few Curses. Then, Bastiodon sweeps with Iron Head and Stone Edge. And while that is going on, the first turn you use an attacking move, let Togekiss stay in its Substitute.
Just made it up. Rate it from 1-10.
EDIT: Aura Sphere on Togekiss just in case some uses Taunt. And more Special Defense on Bastiodon in case of Earth Power. Shuca Berry is also an option for it.

Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
Earthquake/Surf flattens this strategy. Stone Edge destroys this strategy. If Togekiss sacrafices a turn to recover, it'll only regain half, which can give the foe a turn to either strike Bastiodon or dteam up on a weakened Togekiss.EliOceans wrote:Double Destruction.

You forget. Rock Polish+ Curse. Most of the time, it's gonna work.
Pssst. Thanks SonicRainboom for the avatar!
Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
I accounted for that. Remember, Curse doesn't affect Special Defense. Plus, I was talking about them being destroyed BEFORE you finish cursing/polishing. It isn't that hard. Explosion obliterates Togekiss leaving Bastiodon wide open for attack.

True. I just say a video showing that even if your partner uses Follow Me, EQ can still hit it. I'm going to edit the post
Pssst. Thanks SonicRainboom for the avatar!
Re: The Official "Rate My Pokémon" Thread
That's what I was trying to say. Attacks that hit everything, especially super-effective ones like EQ and Surf, they're murder for this strategy. It's an interesting concept, but not very effective.
