aww i have a chao recipies thred that says i have 5 (cuz its in the subject)
it turned out to be 19

If you mean changing the thread title that's displayed on the board, yes. Just click the 'edit' button on your first post, i.e. the one that made the thread, and change the 'subject' field as you want.
