Hmm. Let's see:

- SA1DC doesn't keep rings actually.

- I've never played SA2DC, but I assume everything in SA2B applies, more or less.

- SADX has Sonic's Emerald Coast, where you can get about 300 rings every time.
Sonic's Casinopolis might work, but I don't know about the requirement to even get to the goal getting in the way of that.

- SA2B has City Escape which is the best by far when mastered, getting about 400 rings every time (or play the Lost Chao mission and loop around a few until you get 999).
Final Sonic vs Shadow is good too, but you have to be careful not to get hit and to end it quickly to make it genuinely worth it-- you can however get 999 rings all at once!

You can also always do the item glitch. I think you can also do a similar glitch by sending a chao with a hat to a GBA without a cart and then selling that hat, and then bringing back the GBA chao. But don't quote me on that one.

- Sonic Advance is best done with both acts of Neo Green Hill Zone. Secret Base is okay, but it has less rings and is more dangerous, I recommend sticking to Neo Green Hill.
I never found out if you keep the rings from the Special Stages in that game but there's about 200 rings in the first Special Stage I believe.

- Sonic Advance 2 is great with Leaf Forest, and even continuing to Hot Crater. I still never found out about the Special Stages, but if you memorize the Special Ring locations in the first two zones you can get them with great ease and still get large amounts of rings from the main zone. If you can keep the rings from there, massive amounts of rings can be obtained from them.

- quite honestly, I don't know how many rings you can actually get playing pinball in pinball party-- chao ball is an exclusive minigame that I love to play for rings however

- The Chao Minigames: I hear people play Chao Match and take photos of the locations before they flip over. Otherwise, I usually play Chao Janken, but it's easy to simply not get the right hand you need or make a wrong move. I think SADX's downloadable Chao Hunt game takes too much thought to be good for collecting rings. If memory serves, Advance 2's Chao Bounce is decent, but hard to get good at. Like I said before, I really like playing the Pinball Party exclusive Chao Ball for rings.

And those are my thoughts on collecting rings for the Chao Garden + some things I believe have been said on this forum before at some point.

I was thinking route 101 for sa2 because 1 minute = 100 rings but thats just my opinion. Thanks for the help!

Ring grinding

It's been over a decade since I played Advance 2 competitively(though I quick mainly because I lost my cart and it would've been disheartening to start with a new save without my times), but those are my leader board for rings in that game. Considering that legitimately unlocking the TCG in Advance 2 requires being pretty damn good at the game(though I confess to cheating to clear special stages 6 and 7 with each character) and my ring scores are largely mid-tier, that page can probably give a decent idea of which character on which stages is best. Admittedly, since Advance 2 has random ring monitors, a skilled ring run can have an underwhelming ring total if the RNG doesn't pan out.

Of course, by the time you've unlocked the TCG, you've probably collected a ton of rings anyways.

Don't know if special stages count towards ring collecting in Advance 2, but I do know mastery allows for 999 rings in most, if not all, of the special stages(and 300 is needed just to clear and you have to at least be that good just to unlock the TCG).

Again, by the time you've unlocked the TCG, you're probably pretty good at the game, so my recommendation would be to just run through the game as Cream, spamming Cheese, collecting as many rings as quickly as possible, and claring as many special stages as possible.

In SADX, the stages I would grind rings for are Sonic's Emerald Coast because it has a lot of them, and Tails' Windy Valley because it also has a lot of them, and it's hard to actually lose the rings in Tails' stages without flat out dying due to there not being many or any enemies in them.

I actually once tried to come up with a solution to grind rings in Casinopolis, although it doesn't actually work, unfortunately. As anyone who's played that stage would know, you have to give up a certain amount of rings to get to the goal at the end, but I came up with the idea to give it the amount it needs to get to the goal and getting more rings immediately after doing so, ensuring that you can get your rings to the goal without having to give them up. Unfortunately, upon trying this, I'm pretty sure the game didn't actually count the rings towards the ring score, so even by cheating, Casinopolis isn't programmed to give you rings outside of it at all.

For SA2B, I would always get rings in City Escape and Route 101. There is also the Chao Level thing that allows you to get 999 rings, but I've always found it to be more long and tedious than anything else, and it's also rather fragile since you can easily lose all of them by getting a single hit (which happened to me once, and I rage quitted).

In Sonic Advance, I would always get rings in the first act of Neo Green Hill, and I would take the time to go around the stage getting every ring and item. Although the character you play as doesn't really matter, I would play as Tails due to his better mobility, making getting to all the rings a bit easier. I wouldn't recommend trying to get rings in the second act, because you could easily lose all your rings in the boss.

As for SA2 (Sonic Advance 2, not Sonic Adventure 2), getting a lot of rings in that game is pretty easy (which used to annoy me because it would stop the music when you get 100 because you get a life, and I love SA2's soundtrack), so you can do pretty much any level, but it would probably just be best to the first couple of levels with the least amount of enemies and death traps. Bosses also aren't a problem in this game due to them not taking place in the actual stage and resetting the ring counter. Actually, you might be able to grind rings off of them because they infinitely spawn rings, but I don't know if they carry over to the Tiny Chao Garden or not.

Okay, I feel stupid for forgetting to mention this, but for SADX(and possibly SA1DC):

Dig as Knuckles in Station Square until you dig up a magnet shield.
Go to the hotel and stand on the Ring spawn button.
The rings closest to the top of the stairs will endlessly be attracted to Knuckles and respawn.
Leave the game running for a few hours while you do something else.
Return and clear a stage as Knuckles to bank your rings(I always used Speed Highway, butt I wonder if Twinkle Circuit would work) Pretty sure Casinopolis doesn't work(I think it's coded to not save rings regardless of who you're playing).

Also, less setup, but harder to automate, but you can go to the Hotel as Gamma, stand where the first ring spawns and repeatedly fire at the buttons to activate them. Note that Gamma's shots will alternate between the Ring switch and Door switch, which I'm pretty sure slows things down significantly.

And Of course, Sonic can use the light dash to collect all of the rings, and Tails, Amy, and Big can manually collect a few near the stairs, but the time and effort these characters need to repeatedly return to the switch to spawn moree rings makes collecting these respawning rings more tedious than its worth.

Still, with the Knuckles version of the glitch, I've gotten 20k rings in a single go before(apparently, the ring counter goes much higher than the display allows).

There's a slightly faster way with Sonic: charging lightspeed dash over and over again while standing on the stairs near the button. The beads of light that swarm around Sonic pick up the nearest rings and reactivate the button. It's roughly as fast Gamma, only the button doesn't get hit as consistently, so

I've literally never gotten a magnetic shield in the Adventure fields before, no matter how much I dig around, so high yield rings with Knuckles remain elusive for me.
