Animals [SA2]

There are seven groups of animals, and each group has three animals. You can give animals to your Chao to alter its personality, its looks and to increase its stats. When you give a Chao an animal, it will embrace it, and attain its appearance, abilities, and behaviour. The animal will disappear shortly after you give it to a Chao.

The animals are found hidden throughout the levels, usually in locked cages that you must destroy or in small pipes scattered around the stages (that you have to whistle at). You can also find them in the robots created by Dr. Eggman such as the bomb-throwing monkeys, or the robots that look like E-102 Gamma. You can only carry up to ten animals or Chaos Drives at a time.

The four common animal colours — yellow, purple, green, and red — all raise the primary stats: Swim, Fly, Run, and Power, respectively. They also influence the Chao to evolve into the corresponding type.

The other three colours — blue, gold, and black — influence the Chao to evolve into a random type.

Dreamcast

These are the general stat changes for each animal when given to a Normal Type Chao. The amount of stats animals raise or decrease change depending on the Chao’s type, and how much of a stat they have. The full details of this is still being researched.
