The Chao Garden is a garden in SA2 and SA2B. It is the first garden the player has access to in the Chao World.
Description
This garden consists of green grass and trees, with a cliff face featuring a waterfall and a pond. It also contains the entrance to the Chao Stadium hidden under the waterfall, and is the only way to access it in all versions of Sonic Adventure 2. 2 regular Chao Eggs can be found here to help the player when starting their new save file.
If you dig around the garden with Knuckles or Rouge, there is a chance to find a Pumpkin Hat for your Chao to wear.
The Challenge Races provide three prize toys for all of the Chao in the Chao Garden to play with, regardless of the Chao which won the races:
- Ball - By winning the 4th challenge race "Small Animal Challenge", a ball will be added to the garden. Chao can chase and push around the ball, often tripping up. The player can also kick the ball around with the chao.
- Jack in a box - By winning the 8th challenge race "Pumpkin Group", a Jack-in-the-box will be added to the garden. This acts very similar to the ones in the races; a chao interacting with the box will either open it and find nothing, or be surprised.
- TV - By winning the 12th challenge race "Ultimate Rival", a TV will be added to the garden. When interacted with, chao will sit and watch various shows on the TV. This can be done by multiple Chao if they are nearby.
Version Differences
Minor revisions were made in the Battle versions of SA2, such as tree locations were changed.
Music
The music from the Chao Garden is a gentle piece with xylophones, güiro (wood block) and a steel drum melody.
The filename for this ripped from the game uses an "n" character to stand for "neutral" garden, rather than "Chao" garden.
