Trees are found throughout Chao World and provide fruit or nuts for Chao to eat.
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle & Sonic Adventure 2 HD
Garden Trees
Naturally occurring trees can be found in the garden. These are immortal trees that provide basic fruit to Chao to raise their stamina. In the SA2 HD ports, the basic hero garden fruit is bugged, as it gives far more stamina than intended.
The trees grow fruit over time which can be shaken off once fully grown. A watering can won from the Stump Valley race that, when watering a tree, will instantly grow all the fruit to being able to be shaken off the tree.
Black Market Trees
Trees can be grown using Seeds from the Black Market. A chao must at least win the Crab Pool race to earn the Shovel as a prize and have at least 50 run to be able to walk and plant the seed.
A watering can won from the Stump Valley race that, when watering a seed, will reduce the time it takes for the tree to grow and allow it to bear fruit sooner. If the tree is fully grown, then when watered it will instantly grow all the fruit to being able to be shaken off the tree; in addition, the lifespan of the trees will be extended by a small amount.
Once the tree has reached adulthood, it will bear fruit for a while; most of the fruit can be bought from the Black Market with the exceptions of Tasty fruit and Strong Fruit. After some time, the tree will wither and die, leaving room for a new one to be planted. Only 4 extra trees can be active in each garden at any one time for a total of 7 trees per garden.
In Sonic Adventure 2 HD, a glitch exists which breaks how the tree looks in the port while it is growing; it still functions as normal, it is just broken visually.
